Root Causes
Climate change through all of its controversy it is clear that humans do hold a part in climate change. From deforestation to overpopulation the human race contributes to climate change not only by releasing greenhouse gases but by also removing forests that use CO2 to release O2, oxygen that we breathe. The contribution with deforestation and overpopulation leads to an excessive amount of greenhouse gases that are released by humans and the lack of trees to convert it into oxygen. But the first part to reduce greenhouse emissions is to find better alternatives to eventually lower deforestation and have at least a smaller carbon footprint per person. Its a political and cultural issue as in we are too dependent on oil for many things. Oil is used in everyday life combined with the overpopulation it heavily contributes to climate change since resources are needed to keep the people supplied with electricity and to have transportation for each. Another contributor is consumerism with most consumer products being made with plastic and are being replaced annually at most. Consumer products needing energy ,from most commonly oil, to create the products. Our culture mostly runs on oil and its the commitment to change your way of life that can change our culture although not in an instant but it will be slowly changed. Another main cause is the politics in our society that do not complete an action to lessen the contribution to climate change. With each new president comes another administration that may or may not look in to solutions for climate change. Each president has their own beliefs just like president Jimmy Carter with his solar panels being installed on top of the white house but later being removed by the next president Ronald Reagan.
